My favorite pair of Hawks are back on their nest near my office. He did his usual behavior, yell at me a few times and then circle overhead to see what I was up to. I don’t think they have laid eggs yet, both were on the move at the same time.

Raptor Sunday
Took a drive today and ran across a few things. Including a distant sighting of one of the Bald Eagles calling the Fountain Valley School home.
2013′s first visit to the Pueblo Raptor Center
The boss was in the mood to get out of town today. We ended up in pueblo at the nature center, the raptor center, and the reservoir. The light was not the best today, but a few of these are not too bad.
Fort Collins Raptor Rehab Center
While in Fort Collins this weekend we went by the rehab center. The Golden Eagle and the Turkey Vulture were out for feeding.

Hawk vs Snake
yes, the hawk wins. Sorry about the last image’s quality. I shot it leaning out the passenger side window, from the drivers side. No easy task with a fully extended 500mm lens. these shots show the progression of the attack. from lamp post, to where he missed it, then hit it before it got to the weeds.

A hawk that was in the neighborhood, the dogs on the trail, a Heron, and a swallowtail in the park.
The Hawk Nest
It’s most likely our last sunny day for a few days so I went to the hawk nest today. The male now has a fairly predictable behavior when I show up. He voices his opinion, goes back and forth across the nest, then circles overhead, sometimes pretty close. He really does need to unwad his panties, I am across a fairly large creek.

Back to mom and dad hawk today. I promise, tomorrow I’ll go see if the hummingbirds are out yet.
