Lazy circles in the sky

My favorite pair of Hawks are back on their nest near my office. He did his usual behavior, yell at me a few times and then circle overhead to see what I was up to. I don’t think they have laid eggs yet, both were on the move at the same time.

Various Birds and one Squirrel

I have been out and about for a few days and had not downloaded my CF card. Here is what I have run across over the last few days.

Hawk vs Snake

yes, the hawk wins. Sorry about the last image’s quality. I shot it leaning out the passenger side window, from the drivers side. No easy task with a fully extended 500mm lens. these shots show the progression of the attack. from lamp post, to where he missed it, then hit it before it got to the weeds.

Summer Vacation Day 3

Day three took us to Crested Butte, over Kebler Pass, to Maroon Bells, Aspen, over Independence Pass, and then home.

Family, Birds, and Butterflies

A hawk that was in the neighborhood, the dogs on the trail, a Heron, and a swallowtail in the park.

Hawks in Flight

Back to mom and dad hawk today. I promise, tomorrow I’ll go see if the hummingbirds are out yet.

Father hawk on Patrol

I am pretty sure this is the male of this breeding pair.

Herons and Hawks

Herons on my way into work, Hawks at lunch. The nesting pair was very active, on and off the nest several times.

Fearless Hawk Redux

This is the same male that did not take off the other day when I was photographing him. Today he was on the edge of an office lot, and let me walk right up on him.

Various shots from the week

I was out looking for hawks on thursday, I got a glimpse of one who bolted when he saw me. He’s flying away from me but I still like the color in his tail. The crow was in the park, I thought he had a peanut. I guess the crow thinks he’s a raptor. The sunset tonight was nice, as was the moonset.
