There have been some Pelicans hanging out at Fountain Creek Nature Center. I went down there at lunch today. I guess I can probably blame “finding nemo”, whenever I do a pelican voice in my head, it has to have an Australian accent.

Beaver Sighting
We met downtown to walk the dogs after work. We saw out first beaver of the year. He/She was a baby, really small. We’ll try and get back down there at dusk this weekend and see if we can see how many are in this years “litter”. The Heron let me watch him for a little while, no koi while I was watching. Taylor took the dogs pictures, with my 7D and 40mm.
Lazy circles in the sky
My favorite pair of Hawks are back on their nest near my office. He did his usual behavior, yell at me a few times and then circle overhead to see what I was up to. I don’t think they have laid eggs yet, both were on the move at the same time.
Beaver Pond at Night
On the way home from seeing the Williamson’s at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, we stopped by the beaver pond. Across the creek from the pond is the Colorado College field. They had the lights on tonight, and the trees around the pond still had leaves. It was like the largest light painting ever.
the best laid plans
Friday night was supposed to be a trip down town to check out the fan fest for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. No dogs allowed so we ended up down at the park walking the dogs. enjoy!
Heron and the Garden
We walked the dogs this afternoon at the park. Herons, Butterflies, Hummingbirds and Bees.
A Beaver and a Heron walk into a bar….
It was a good night at the pond in the park. The Heron found a great spot over a pump head to fish. He got himself a nice fat Koi. The Beaver was out as well, and had plenty of observers. All in all, a good night.
A nice day at the Nature Center
Even though it was a balmy 90 degrees in Fountain, we went to the Nature Center for a nice walk. I think Brady may have enjoyed the stroll through Big R more than the nature center, Big R has AC!
Flowers and Beavers
Sunday night in my favorite park. This beaver is one of the new babies for the year.
The Hawk Nest
It’s most likely our last sunny day for a few days so I went to the hawk nest today. The male now has a fairly predictable behavior when I show up. He voices his opinion, goes back and forth across the nest, then circles overhead, sometimes pretty close. He really does need to unwad his panties, I am across a fairly large creek.
